nothing lasts forever.
hi.
the road stretched before us. home is where we were headed.
jan. 27- this started out as a normal day. i did morning duty and went down for chores with ms. shar and the ranchers. on the way back to the house i was sitting on the side of the baby truck and i had a meeting with the ground. a little blood was shed, but over all i was ok. just a little scraped up and well sore.
jan. 28-we cleaned house in the morning.. mr todd's came on duty in the afternoon. he called a circle up and let the girls know that they would be going to a coffee shop. all except one of our ranchers. ms. jenna joined them and i stayed home. we have a rancher that is on a program right now. she isn't always a rancher. each of us in the circle up gave her encouragement. then they got ready to leave and i sat and held her for a while. after they got back, i left and went to be with ms. katie at mr. eric's. after supper, he read "james herriot". he had devotions with us. i just really loved that.
jan. 29-quite a low key day. we got home from church and i was going to make lunch. ms. regina called and asked if we were coming for lunch. that was not communicated to us so we hadn't planned on it. so instead of staying home; we loaded up and headed to mr. todd's.
jan. 30-a new week. and it was going to be a busy one. mr. doug's came to spend a week at the ranch. (they are interested in being part of the ranch) we three mentors went to ms. karma for therapy. by the time they were both done, i could not sit still and was going crazy. i had written a list of things i could work on. i knew i wouldn't get through all of them and some of the things are things i have lived with so far but it would be nice to work on them:) i had really good therapy session. i broke a few beliefs! while we were there, it started to sleet. back to the ranch for authorities meeting. after that we got ready for ms. lora's and one of the rancher's birthday parties. they both love purple, so that was used as our theme color:) mr. robb's came and grilled pizza for supper. it was so good ! i made a funfetti cake and chocolate cupcakes. we gave our rancher purple slides, which she LOVED. :)
jan. 31-therapy day? no. the roads were too bad from the storm. we got to sleep in. then watched the movie 'frozen'. it has a really cool moral. a couple of the ranchers had zooms in the afternoon. it was a happy day for one and a sad day for the other. one got told she would be having a longer home visit, and the other was told she would be having a shorter home visit. i got to do alittle therapy with the the one that was told her home visit would be shorter. after the girls went to bed, i went to volleyball which was so fun ! i'm very grateful that ms. katie is okay with me going, and her staying home.
feb. 1- happy birthday ms. lora + a rancher ! i did morning duty and sang to our rancher when i went to check her room🥳 horsemanship until 11. ms. lora got the okay to do therapy at the ranch so therapy started at 11 and the rest of the ranchers went to school. mr. doug's and i joined them at school until lunch. in the evening, we mentors had off and went out to eat at this restaurant that is in an old house.
feb. 2-we had a family come for an interview for when we have an opening and to see if she is a fit. the ranchers went to school in the morning. in the afternoon they did some horsemanship. i joined them and that was really fun. i got on triz for abit. after horsemanship, we had a circle up to ask the girls what they thought about having this girl join them sometime. they all said yes. they would like her to come because they seen how the connection with her mom is and they can relate. then we authorities got together and gave our thoughts. in the evening, i was at home with the ranchers for awhile by myself because the rest of the the authorities met with one of the rancher's parents to go over goals and see where the rancher is at in her healing journey.
feb. 3- the parent seminar started today. ms. sharla had the girls for horsemanship. ms. jenna went to the seminar for the morning. one of the ranchers and i went to see dr. katy. i had been trying to get in to see her so she could work on my neck after i had fallen out of the baby truck. she said my neck was like guitar strings🙊 she said i shouldn't ride roller coasters or trot/canter on triz for 2 months since i had hit my head.🤦♀️ in the afternoon we sledded down the driveway and cleaned the house.
feb. 4- i was off. i went to the parent seminar. it was a good morning. :) mr. todd talked. the ranchers came for lunch and they got to be with their family. :) we started check out visits over lunch. after the visit is finished, they are welcome to leave.
feb. 5- we took a drive to ms. katie's home. (deridder, la)
feb. 6-her family took us to galveston for the day. got to put my toes in the sand and we rode the ferry and ate good food.
feb. 7-we had a very lazy day. after breakfast we sat in the hot tub. we lazed around until the afternoon. ms. katie showed us around her hometown. and i got to see some of my cousins that live there. that was happy :) (my one cousin has the coolest house and she has so many plants) they also have some cute littles. in the evening we went to katie's grandmas house for supper. she has this porch that has a bunch of plants. 😍.
feb. 8- we now are headed back to arkansas. from warmer weather back to rain :)
>it was so fun to see where ms. katie lives. hang out with her family. see her weaving loom. meet her horse strawberry and their dog puggers and cat midget. i loved to see the things that make her happy and who she is. ✨
>one of our girls stayed in arkansas for this homevisit. it just seemed best for where she is at right now. she will be coming to be with us mentors on saturday. another rancher is coming back Saturday. two of them come back sunday. we will have 4 of the ranchers for the next week. then the next weekend our fifth rancher comes back.:)
>when i thought of nothing last forever, not even the biggest storms, it made me think of our rancher. it's hard to wait her out and let her work at her own pace. and let God work and reach her how He wants to. and however long it takes for her to become really motivated, it is going to be okay🤍
ok. i think that is all for now.
thanks for reading + praying for us.
xo,
ms. brooke
